Tessa West

Tessa West is a Professor of Psychology at New York University, where she has taught since completing her PhD in social psychology at the University of Connecticut in 2008.

Her research examines interpersonal interaction: how people read one another in the moment, how status shapes behavior and stress, and how physiological states pass between individuals during conversation.

Much of her recent work applies these findings to the workplace, where communication most often breaks down and where people are least inclined to say what they mean. She is the author of Jerks at Work and Job Therapy.
