University of Lille 1 Sciences and Technology was a French public science and technology university established in 1854 as the Faculty of Science in Lille, with academic roots extending back to the 16th century. It moved to Villeneuve d'Ascq in 1967 and operated independently from 1970 until its merger into the University of Lille in 2018. It specialized in science and technology disciplines with 43 research labs.
