Sikkim Manipal University was established in 1995 with the basic objective of strengthening the close link of education to skill development and making the youth of Sikkim educated, skilled and employable, giving them the capacity to harness diverse opportunities both within and outside Sikkim. It is the first public-private partnership in India for higher education and healthcare services. The university offers a wide range of programs across engineering, medical sciences, nursing, physiotherapy, humanities, and online education through its Centre for Distance & Online Education (CDOE).
