National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), also known as NITK Surathkal, is a public technical university located in Surathkal, Mangalore, Karnataka, India. Established in 1960 as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC), it was elevated to National Institute of Technology status in 2002 and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance. The institute has 14 departments and 11 support centres, with about 200 faculty members, 300 support staff, and 5,500 students.
