As the pioneer in online education, Jones International University (JIU) was the first entirely virtual university in the U.S. to be granted regional accreditation. It was a private online for-profit university headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in business and education. The university was founded in 1993 by Glenn R. Jones and closed in 2015, with teach-out transfer to Trident University International.
