Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S), the medical school of Columbia University, is guided by the principle that medical education is university education. It is one of the nation's most research-intensive medical schools and part of the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Founded in 1767 as part of King's College, VP&S offers MD programs, PhD programs, residencies, and fellowships, and is affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
