I'm Michael, Professor of Computer Science at and a Senior Fellow at Stanford HAI, where I design social and interactive technologies. I'm also a co-founder of , which builds generative AI simulation engines so teams can run what-if scenarios on human behavior.
I studied Symbolic Systems at Stanford, then earned my SM and PhD in Computer Science at MIT before returning to Stanford's faculty. My work spans crowdsourcing, , and AI that can navigate societal disagreement.
