PDF · 14 May 2024

A review article examining empirical literature on how leader fairness (distributive, procedural, interactional) relates to leadership effectiveness. The authors summarize evidence that especially interactional and procedural fairness predict follower attitudes (trust, satisfaction, commitment) and behaviors (OCB, performance, reduced deviance), outline contingencies (follower traits, culture, other leadership styles), present a research-based model, and propose a research agenda emphasizing interaction effects and mediating processes (trust, identity, self-esteem).
