McCall McPherson explains Hashimoto's as your body's signal to slow down. When your thyroid can't keep up, your body deliberately reduces hormones to force rest. Ignoring early fatigue cues leads to worse symptoms, but catching them early lets you adjust and heal.

I think symbolically, especially if I think of hypothyroid Hashimoto's, it's like slow. It's like, to me, it's my body telling me like, let's slow down because we can't, we can't do our job at this rate.
And that's part of, you know, even the built-in biochemistry will stop the activation of your hormones so that you're tired, so that you lay down, that you rest, you recover, right? Our body has these built-in safety mechanisms. We don't always listen. I'm. Guilty of that for sure, but it does try to warn us. And I love the idea that you've built that in almost to your toolbox to recognize, okay, my body's telling me something. And I think that's such an important part of the process of healing is learning the telltale signs before they get so big and debilitating that you can reel in whatever you need to protect your health.
