JJ Virgin tells a heavy lifter with inconsistent eating habits to fix their meal schedule first. Track when and what you eat, set consistent times, and see if that solves the problem. Only consider GLP-1s if you still have persistent appetite issues, chronic inflammation, or elevated fasting insulin after establishing structure.

Do you recommend GLP-1s? I work out 5 to 7 days a week, mostly weights. I struggle with eating. I either eat too little or too much. I like fasting. It feels easy, but not sure if that's helpful long-term. So I'm trying to understand what you say. I either eat too little or too much. Are you trying to lose fat? Are you trying to put on muscle? What are you trying to do? If it just is that you need to get regimented with your eating, if you had trouble with big appetite, inflammation, elevated fasting insulin, GLP-1 would be something you could look at, or food noise. If you sometimes don't eat enough and sometimes eat too much, it sounds like more that you need to get on a food schedule and see if you can focus on that, where you're tracking your food, you're tracking what time you eat, you make decisions on your meal times, and you get that regimen. I'd probably start there first to see if that works.
