JJ Virgin explains how to use a vibration plate for bone health based on advice from osteoporosis specialist Dr. Doug Lucas. BFR cuffs offer a portable alternative for muscle stimulation when injured or traveling.

  1. Melody says, what do you think of using the Power Plate Pro vibration as well as the use of blood flow resistance cuffs? I actually just did a podcast with Dr. Doug Lucas, who is an osteoporosis expert at reversing osteoporosis. And I'm going to lean on what he just gave me with the Power Plate, which I have one of those in my house. I'm now going to start using it differently, which he said the single best thing for bone mineral density is to stand on it for 10 minutes, slight flex in the knee, weight on the ball of the foot. I was doing all sorts of exercise on top of it, which I'm now changing. So I think that's great. Blood flow restriction cuffs, where I think they could come into play, is when you're healing from an injury, or if you want to travel. These are one of the things you can take with you because you can't pack heavy weights. So I think they can be a great adjunct, as can things like electrical muscle stim. So again, depends what your goals are.
