  1. Hi, this is Brian. Welcome back to another Heroic Plus One. I was typing this one drenched in sweat. I just finished an hour-long zone 2 workout in the Texas summer heat featuring 6 half-mile loops on our trail, some pull-ups, some rowing, and a little yoga and stretching. After the first 5 loops, I took my shoes off, threw on a little 20-pound rock, and trained the old feet. Now, I recently gave the trail a little haircut with the weed whacker. It is always astonishing how quickly nature will take over if I don't maintain the trail. And when I give the trail a haircut, occasionally a little prickly something or other will find its way onto the trail and then find its way lodged into my or the wifey's or the kids' feet. And that's what just happened. I'm walking along and bam! Ouch! I have a dried up little burr poking into my heel. I reach down to pull it out. Now, you've got to do it carefully because these little guys will go from your foot to your fingers in an instant. So I get it out, and as I walked along, I imagined how I would have felt if I hadn't pulled that little burr out. That little micro pain would have become a whole lot more painful. Then I knew I was going to write this +1 and hustled back to the house to get the bad phone and type this out. Today's plus one. Here is a pro tip. If you have a metaphorical burr in your foot, pull it out. And know this, we all have at least one metaphorical burr or 3 in our lives. You know what I'm talking about? Those little or big habits that you know just aren't serving you. What's your number one burr? Slow down, pull it out. AKA stop doing whatever it is you're doing that's creating more And more pain. And carry on. It's day 1. We're all in. Let's go.
