Hallie Bulkin explains why CEU courses rarely help therapists. You learn something, try it on three clients, then hit a wall. Real confidence comes from applying skills across your whole caseload, not from collecting information.
Chapters
I'd be sitting in a course and I'd be like, this is awesome, I love this, oh, this is such good information. And I would flip over like the back of the packet or the notes and I would write down ideas. And at the end I'd be like, okay, I have ideas for what to do with like 3 kids on my caseload. 3. How many kids do we usually have on our caseload? Way more than 3, right? And I'm like, and I have an idea of like what I wanna do with them in the next session or 2, but then what? Confidence doesn't come from having more information. It comes from how you see yourself and how you actually apply what you know.
