Chapters
Our entire mental, emotional state is dictated by the health capacity of our microbiome.
The soil microbiome and the gut microbiome, they used to be very sympathetic. And I think how far we've come from that.
We are furthest thing from that natural world. And that's why we supplement, because growing the most mineral-dense food is part of the chain of creating the best alchemy for people to eat.
I mean, most of us eat like somebody's gonna steal it from us. Big bites of chicken or meat, and that gets into the gut. There's not enough surface area for the enzymes to get around them, and indigestion, bloating, constipation— they're linking it to the food, not actually the way that they ate.
We're taking the information from the food. Our body's learning from it. And so I love this point from a gut health perspective, is that we have to chew our food. And I think that's the ultimate way to break bread.
What is some advice that you would give to people that want to start addressing gut-related issues at a macro level?
I see people chasing better gut health without understanding the microbiome, and I think from my standpoint—
Hey guys, welcome back to The Ultimate Human Podcast. I'm your host, human biologist Gary Brecka, where we go down the road of everything anti-aging, biohacking, longevity, and everything in between. Today's guest, Shervin Jafari, is going to be a wild ride. We're talking about the intersection of things that usually don't go to the same parties: biochemistry, Ayurveda, the most ancient form of medicine known to mankind, traditional Chinese medicine, and bioidentical or bioregenerative farming, something I'm seriously interested in. And as a matter of fact, I wanna ride out the rest of my life on a regenerative farm. So, I don't know where to start with you, man, but there's so much ground that we're gonna cover. First of all, welcome to the Ultimate Human Podcast.
Gary, you came as advertised times 10. It's wonderful to be here, to be in your beautiful home, around your family, around your entire crew. This has been world-class and a long time coming. So I'm so stoked to be here.
Yeah, thank you so much. You're a very special human being, man. Getting to know you has been a really enlightening experience for me. And I'm always fascinated when, you know, I see folks in different, you know, places in the socioeconomic ladder, but that have very unique value systems. And, you know, like I said at the beginning of the podcast, you know, Biochemistry and Ayurveda, those usually don't go to the same parties, right? And traditional Chinese medicine, regenerative farming, you know, these are these are back to the basics, centuries-old observational practices, and yet you run one of the most progressive, modernized, impactful supplement companies in the world. And and I mean just an enormous fan. of the science and the delivery systems that you formulated. And we're going to go deep into that because it's a core curiosity of mine, a core competency of mine, and my audience is always thirsty for the knowledge of how did these things work. But I'd love if you talk a little bit about how you got here and the pathway and your walk through Ayurveda and your gravitation towards traditional Chinese medicine.
I think these 2 worlds emerged today, because the science today is showing that the homeopathic energy, the frequency energy, the vibration of being connected to the earth, the soil, how things are cultivated, how they're extracted, how they're, you know, were designed to create short-term and long-term benefit for whatever village or cultivar in a specific region is being identified today through, you know, basic science. And understanding the compliance of science works to prove that these elements are part of the human condition. It's part of our growth. It's part of our cycle in life. And, you know, at an early age, I kind of had an investigator mentality. You know, I think it's part of my, you know, my purpose in this life. I wanna learn, you know, just like you. School of hard knocks, constantly wanna rip something open.
Curious.
How is that working? And one of my main mentors growing up was Dr. Rudolf Steiner, who was introduced to me by my cousin, at the time was, you know, one of the leading authoritans in the world on raw food. And, he was bringing all the superfoods to North America. And, I was 7 years old watching this happen unfold. And, I was learning things outside of the norm. You know, it was like, oh, you know, we should be juicing grass. Well, what is grass? Well, it's got chlorophyll. What's chlorophyll? Chlorophyll is bioidentical to human blood. You know, it's just one atomic structure different. I'm like, I learned that.
So close to our hemoglobin.
So, so close. And, I learned that at 7. And that was right at the time I started learning about biodynamics and kind of a Waldorf thinking, which is be an investigator, be part of the direct observation. 'Cause there's, you know, reading a book and learning standard practice school systems has a purpose. I'm not here to push against that, but there's nothing like being an investigator in nature and seeing it and feeling it with your own experience.
Hmm.
And get your feet in the earth, understand how to grow food. Someone always asks me, he goes, what's the number one thing you would do to elevate Well, get all the kids in the garden, have them learn how to grow food.
Wow.
Give them that practical purpose and also responsibility and discipline, which creates devotion, right, to the food that they're eating. Today, people are just— food's arriving at their front door. It's gotten to that level. Like, before, I'd go to the farmer's markets with my mom.
You'd go to the grocery store.
Go to the grocery store and like search. And that was part of my exercise. I remember, like, that's a thing. You meet people, you talk to people, you learn where food's grown. Today, food's just showing up to the front door. So, what I'm saying is, 'Cause, you know, as a child, I was able to get into the earth. I was able to understand what it took to actually grow tomatoes, what it took to grow celery, what it'd take to grow whatever. And then when you consume that food, there's an energy to it. You know, food today, as you know, has become a fringe commodity.
Yeah.
You know, and that's a problem.
Yeah.
That's like 101 issue. And a lot of the ancient regenerative alchemists, if you will, that understood soil science said food could never become that commodity. It has to become holy. of the village. You know, we have to have small, medium-sized farms.
Yeah.
And then, I learned biodynamics. I learned that there's a cosmology above us that dictate how foods grow properly and how to mineralize the food and how the sacred cow is the gold standard of the manure and it creates the black gold and the waxing and waning of the moon and the rotation of the heavens. All of those things have to do with how the quality of the food is. And then, it snapped into me and I learned this probably at age 9 or 10, Growing the most mineral-dense food and understanding these laws of practices is part of the chain of creating the best alchemy for people to eat.
Mm-hmm.
There's no doubt about that. You're getting the best biotics, the best minerals, the best nutrition, all of that stuff. But that, in my opinion, we were talking about this earlier, I think that's the side effect. I think the main quality is harnessing the devotion in the children and growing the food so the kids understand the practice.
Yeah.
And that right there is what leads us into the next chapter. Because if you compare a child that's never done that, has no idea the hard work, the sacrifice, the necessary energy, the time, the time just to make one tomato, you know, or to make one cucumber, it's like, it's energy. It's a, it's a whole thing. There's a different mentality. There's a different connection to purpose. versus a child that's been in there since they're age 3, that's been in the soil. Not to mention all the health qualities of actually being in that soil, right? From the fulvic, humic, and all those stuff. So, I had that upbringing. I was able to see that.
And where was this, in Hawaii?
This was in La Jolla, California.
Really?
Yeah.
Right on.
Yes, I was born and raised in La Jolla. And I have 2 Persian parents. My mom was a mystic in her own way. And so, I had a little bit of that cultivation as well, see outside the box. My parents didn't try to hold me. They let me free. They let me roam free. You know, I was given no, I mean, there was wisdom, there was discipline, but from like an emotional standpoint and a freedom of thought and ideas, I wasn't held back.
Hmm.
And then, getting mentored later by my cousin, who again, was just turning into this raw food guru, I was just able to have this different, you know, side of understanding life from all the different complexes of the world too at such an early age. I, you know, I was kind of revolting against what the program was.
Yeah.
You know, I didn't really get along with it.
Really early on, I might add. You know, what's really fascinating is when I look at Blue Zone research and I look at like some of these ancestral novels about food and, How can you have such different, um, uh, diets leading to extended life expectancy? So there wasn't, you know, one dogmatic diet that extended life. There seemed to be regions where the, the diets were so vastly different, but you had these really extended lifespans. And, you know, what, what they've uncovered is a lot of what you're saying, like the soil microbiome and the gut microbiome. They used to be very simpatico.
Identical.
Almost identical. You're right. There were a few strains that were inhuman, you know, different strains in cattle. But the geographical radius was generally a long walking distance. And that was for animals, that was for water sources, that was for agriculture. And so what happened is the soil became them, they became the soil.
That's it.
We're a mirror of it. I think how far we've come from that now.
Look what's happened in North America. You're familiar with what happened with the bison, how there was 7 million bison roaming North America in the early 1800s?
No.
And then within 10 years, there was 15,000 left. Those bisons were basically tilling the entire North American plain, which was cultivating the soil. They were pooping, they were eating, they were running around creating this—
Hooves and—
Hooves and the whole thing. It created the hydrological cycle, the rain cycle, the minerals, and that was North America. Yeah, that was the substance of North America. And within, you know, 15, 20 years, poof, gone.
Wiped out.
That changed the whole trajectory of North America at that point.
Wow.
You throw in that industrialization of our world, you throw in the cities, the cement, the sewage system, I can go on and on. This is a whole thing. We are furthest thing from that natural world.
Right.
The furthest thing. And that's why, you know, we supplement.
Yeah.
You know, that's, that's really—
Exactly.
It's— people ask me, why do you, you know, why do we need supplements? We kind of do now because we don't have biodynamic farms in every, you know, township. You know, we don't have soil science being, you know, prophesied by families because that should be the holy grail. Because as we were talking about last night, Our entire mental, emotional state is dictated by the health capacity of our microbiome, starting from the oral all the way down to the bottom. It's one alive mechanism that has tentacles in every idea and every thought and every emotion and our resiliency as a humanity. And look at where we are today.
Yeah. You know, Dr. Perlmutter sat in that chair Day before yesterday, David Perlmutter, he's a mentor of mine, even though he doesn't know he's a mentor, because I read a book that he wrote in 2013, I read in 2014 called Grain Brain.
Yeah.
And then he wrote another one called Gut Brain Connection. It was the first time that someone had framed the importance of the gut microbiome and its direct impact, not just on our thoughts and our desires, but on pathology and what we would call these disease states, mood disorders, mental illnesses, and how we've categorized all these ways to slot people into these mental conditions. You have ADD, ADHD, OCD, manic depression, bipolar, anxiety, depression. And he was like, these are modern-day issues.
100%.
It's not that they didn't exist in some form Not at this scale. A century ago. But yeah, they're modern-day issues related to the total devastation of the gut.
That's right. And we said last night, because you brought that up, you draw a line down to the root of that, and at the base of it is the gut.
Yeah.
You know, all the, you know, every nutritive protective compound, for the most part, that is part of the mindset from serotonin, dopamine, acetylcholine, anandamide, the bliss, right? All of that. is manufactured in the GI, right? And it's done like, it's almost like its own universe. It's perfection.
Whatever created this— We've never been able to duplicate it in pharmacology either.
You can't.
We've been able to blunt it or increase our capacity to absorb it, but we've never actually been able, we don't have serotonin factories.
No.
We can take a shot of serotonin or like a glass of dopamine. Like we still—
We can accelerate it, right?
We can accelerate it.
Precursor it.
Yeah, and we can precursor it for sure. But basically enable. And what I find fascinating about what I feel are like the leading minds, and I consider you one of those, especially with regard to formulation, is that your attention to source, you're not just paying attention to the science of biology, you're paying attention to this universal source, how everything is interconnected. And how we can't just take one vitamin, one mineral, one amino acid, and just pluck that one out and think we're gonna put it into the body and have some kind of magical reaction.
That's right.
You have to respect the architecture of how it was done. And I think that's what makes your, your capacity to formulate so, so unique. I know you're in the process of patenting a liposome. Yep. And for the folks that are listening to the podcast that don't know what liposomal technology is, I think everybody's heard of it. I don't think they really understand of it. What is a lipid nanoparticle? Right, right, right.
What is that?
Yeah.
First, I just appreciate your, you know, your ability to see where the origin is of this, you know, because when me and Shahab set out to do this, you know, we both agreed, you know, it wasn't just me, it was both of us. We both agree that if we do this, we're going to go all in here. There's no way of sacrificing anything. We've got to— we're going for the best here. This is the premium, you know, this is the top.
It's going to go into human beings.
I mean, that's my line. It goes into people's bodies. Yeah.
You know, I mean, the greatest calling of service, you know? Yeah.
Thanks for your ask. It's not even, I don't even feel like we're doing anything special, to be honest with you. It's an obligation, or it's like, this is just the way you do things. And I think because of the background of understanding soil science and regenerative agriculture and how biodynamics work in nature, it put me in position to look and see how to design these formulas properly. So we don't have, you know, single compound applications because the body does not recognize that. The body wants food. It wants minerals, polyphenols, vitamins, fats, you know, wants proteins. It wants enzymes. It wants all these different things moving in carriers. And as you, you know, always articulate properly, it goes through first-pass digestion, which, you know, could be the saliva in the mouth, right? And going down the duodenum, going into the gut, the hydrochloric acid, all of these things, the different enzymes. Breaks down, goes down into the intestinal tract. That's where things start— should start opening up and the body starts recognizing them in their pure form with complexity to them. So it's reminded that you're eating broccoli, you're eating a whatever, you know, piece of fruit, whatever it is that's embedded in there, and you're getting those nutritive compounds. And that's how Symbiotica was designed.
Wow.
It was designed with that complexity. If you look at our label, you can see there's, you know, 14 to 20 compounds in there. And all of them have a purpose. They're not fillers. They're all designed to create a complete process. And from a liposomal perspective, you know, I'm not someone that wants to call out different groups and stuff like that. But from a purity standpoint, I mean, we're getting the awards now, you know.
You're the most pure in the NAD, most pure in sea moss. One of the highest trust factors in the entire industry for the whole supplement space. There's a third-party validation, by the way.
I love those credentials, Gary. It speaks to our entire team, our research and development team, my partner in crime, Dr. Shilpa Rao, who we're able to get over, who has a PhD in liposomes. Me and her together.
PhD in liposomes?
In liposomes, yeah.
Where did your life go wrong that you decided to get a PhD in liposomes?
Yeah, no, exactly. That was the first thing I told her.
Liposomes, that's where I'm going to drop off.
That was the first thing I told her. I was like, PhD in liposomes, I don't trust it. Yeah, I trust it. And she's been a spark to my flame, and it's been incredible working with her. And we're just like, how do we get better? How do we get better? How do you sharpen the blade? Well, you gotta understand the foundation and how the body recognizes supplements as food. How do we convert that? And Symbiotica, and I don't want this to be a whole Symbiotica thing, but it's basically, we took supplements and turned them into food. and didn't sacrifice on quality, on execution, on standards at all whatsoever. We went to the highest level. And now our gold standard, double-blind pharmacokinetic studies are proving it out. And it is—
I just read one before we came in on the creatine study. I just literally just finished reading that.
It's incredible. And it's a testament to the entire organization. I'm, you know, I stand so, you know, with so much humility because when you have an organization, as you know, I've met your people, when everyone's all in, it just changes the entire trajectory and movement and momentum. And so, I feel that with Somatica right now, our patent is almost filed. We've gone through the entire process. It sets us apart from everyone. It's so unique. How I, you know, we're able to identify how to develop this patent really sets us apart. And all we're going, you know, we're quadrupling down on all our clinical studies right now.
Yeah.
You know, just to, just to really bolster that.
People ask me health questions every single day about their labs, their sleep, their supplements, their genetics. I want to help every single one of them. And that's why I built Just Ask Gary. It's an AI trained on everything I know, including my protocols, my research, and my methodology. You ask the question, you get my answer any time of the day. Go to theultimatehuman.com/ai and check it out. Now let's get back to the Ultimate Human Podcast. You know, I love what you said was that your, your supplements is food because in the human body, a lot of the delivery, meaning bioavailability and whether or not it has the capacity to be used by our, our cells, it has, has to do with the signaling. And, you know, this is, this is true in autoimmune disease. This is true in, in all kinds of complex conditions in the human body. That there's certain markers that the body inherently recognizes. It has enzymes to pair with them. It can, it can break them down and turn them into other compounds. You know, one of the things that just always fascinated me when I started studying, uh, methylation was how a compound will enter the body and a certain cycle of methylation will use it and it will discard this waste. So it'll take trimethylglycine and will break homocysteine down into L-methionine. Okay, so it throws out this quote-unquote waste product, but then that's picked up in another part of the cycle, and that's turned into S-adenosylmethionine, then that's turned into S-adenosylhomocysteine, and that's turned into homocysteine. It's just, it's fascinating. It's, and it reminds me of what you were talking about earlier, how The bison trample the soil, and then they, and then they poop in the soil, and then they fertilize the soil, and then, you know, the soil grows up all of these nutrients, then they eat those, and it's, it's this really—
Symbiotic.
Ooh.
That's where the name came from.
Symbiotica.
Symbiotica.
It, it really—
All things in nature coming together to create perfection. There's no waste. It's syntropic by nature, as opposed to You know, maniacal entropy that we're seeing in industrialization world, which we know is causing nothing but death and decay and pain. Yeah, that, that world has to end. This world is the only thing. This is our utopic world.
Yeah.
And these conversations, what we're talking about, how you just explained the methylation pathways and how the body knows how to transport into different areas to do this, to do that, as opposed to just some dead end.
Yeah, you just—
right, right. A lot of things are dead ends. And when you're in a dead end in your body, like whatever, some pharmaceutical or whatever, yeah, what happens to the user? Confused, angry, frustration.
We call side effects.
Shutdown, side effects. That's exactly what happens. You know, the liver, the kidneys, all of these things, the bioflow, all of them get involved and they're confused. And you do that for 10 years, no wonder we're at the disease rates that we're at and people are suffering. So I love that. You've taken charge in this world, this world of methylation. You know, most people didn't know if their kids were on the spectrum or if they needed to properly methylate, you know, because they weren't getting access to these compounds. They weren't eating broccoli sprouts, you know, they didn't get access to other senolytic compounds. But just an adjustment on a derivative of a form of B vitamin.
Yeah.
You know, it can all of a sudden give you the aha waking up moment. And you don't need to be doing enemas 10 times a day. It was a cellular switch that had to happen.
Yeah, so true. It was that recognition. I know what you are. The body has 3 choices. It can take something and turn it into energy. It can build something from it, or it can eliminate it as waste. And this is why we never desensitize to food, right? Because you could eat Let's say 1,500 calories a day, every day for the rest of your life. Well, why aren't you eating 4,000 calories 10 years from now and 10,000 calories 20 years from now? Because you're not desensitizing to it. Because when you take in food, and I mean real food, the body's either going to turn it into energy, use it to build something, or it's going to eliminate it as waste. And it's very efficient at being able to do that. The framing of designing supplements as food. I want to say that's the first time I've heard that.
Oh, wow.
And it's a very intelligent framing because what you're doing is you're taking the deficient nutrients from nature, the way they occur in nature, and delivering it, packaging it. And by packaging, I don't mean the box. I mean the packaging that that nutrient is in, in a way that the body's like, oh, Your food, your energy, your structure, or I'm going to get rid of you.
100%.
And so there's that. It's very in sync with the biocycle in people's bodies. So I want to unpack the liposome, and then I want to actually go into the gut for a moment, because there's a lot of, so many issues that can be solved Including, in my opinion, autoimmune and even some forms of cancer, by really going back and focusing on our gut. I'll give you a stat. This is anecdotal, but we have more than 150,000 patients through our previous clinic. We did not have a single patient that suffered from anxiety that did not also have severe gut dysbiosis. So was it the anxiety that caused the gut dysbiosis or the gut dysbiosis that caused anxiety? Right? It's pretty obvious, right? So, what's so fascinating about this liposome? First of all, can you just describe a liposome for us and then tell us what's unique?
Yeah, so we use pure phosphatidylcholine, which is what's made up in our body.
I take it every morning.
Absolutely.
Take a tablespoon, boom. Absolutely.
Eyes, brain, central nervous system, liver, all of it. It helps produce acetylcholine, which is one of the most important neuroprotective compounds for the brain. It's part of the electric voltage of the body, because it shows up on the outside of all the membranes. It has this very unique energy, and it's hydrophilic and lipophilic, and it has a head, it has a tail. There's a whole thing to phosphatidylcholine, and ours is sunflower-derived. We don't use any soy products.
Yeah, sunflower lecithin.
So, we use pure phosphatidylcholine. Okay, I wanna, like, make that known.
That's right.
You know, it's not easy.
Look right in the camera.
It's not easy to do that. You know, a lot of people out there, they'll just use lecithin, which is a lot of material that don't really solidify, don't add up, but it's a lot cheaper to use. To be honest, it's expensive, but it was the only thing that we can do. We're kind of, we're not going to select all these raw materials all over the earth, deliver this payload, and then on the, on the surface while we're protecting that payload, fall short. Who does that? So it's pure phosphatidylcholine.
Okay.
And a lipid bilayer is essentially, think of like a basketball. I'm gonna throw a basketball to Gary, and I'm gonna put all these nutrients in there. You talked about our NAD formula. You know, we have 300 milligrams of NAD. We have a gram, 1,000 milligrams of trimethylglycine. We have apigenin in there. We have our Lutemax trademark in there.
Yeah.
Zeaxanthins. We have a little bit of caffeine. We have some other compounds in there, and we wrap that entire messaging board with this phospholipid bilayer. So, a basketball, and I can throw that basketball now to Gary, and he's gonna be able to catch it, and it's gonna be fully intact. That's what a liposome is. It's a— basically, it's an encapsulated sphere that makes its way through the bypassing of the gut into the large intestine, so it can be properly broken down and then hit the bloodstream, and the body knows what to do with it at that point.
The bile salts, they dissolve that layer, and now the Whatever's in the package, the basketball breaks open.
That's right.
So, it delivers the payload now into the gut.
That's right.
You still got a ways to go to get to the target tissue, but you've made it past the most vicious part of the cycle, right? Absolutely.
And as you know, because of all your testing, a lot of people have a lot of issues during that entire process, whether it's leaky gut, lack of enzymes, terrible hydrochloric production, I can go on and on, different pHs, the pH is off. H. pylori, all these different conditions that the body's just falling apart. That's why these types of absorption delivery systems is critical to get those nutrients in. It's kind of an orthomolecular medicine perspective, right?
Mm-hmm.
Where you realize that a lack of nutrients and certain key compounds, like the ones that you work with, if you don't have them, the body starts to forget its programming. The transcription factors start to fall apart. Once that happens, then ailments begin, confusion. It's usually confusion and depression, as you know. And then, and then from there, it's just all downstream at that point. And so, our entire desire, our goal was to set out, was to come out of the gate, create the cleanest, most transparent products, and then deliver them at the highest quality of efficiency. You know, because what's the old adage? You are what you eat.
Mm-hmm.
No, you are what you can absorb. Right? At this point, we're at that level. Yeah, we really are. Yeah, if you can't absorb it, what are you doing? You're just eliminating and taking in calories for nothing. Taking in calories and probably stressing out your kidneys and your adrenal glands. You know what I mean? That starts to build up. And because we're also exposed to so much toxicity in this world, we're at the point now, I always say, my cousin always says this, shout out to you, brother, is that, Detoxification might be more important than nutrition these days.
I could not agree with you more.
Right?
I could not agree with you more.
It's at that level. It's just, it's kamikaze. Like, we can't even believe what we're exposed to. So, if we're not absorbing these nutrients and you're in a toxic load and a deficit, it's just diminishing returns till you hit this breakdown. And then you might have co-infections, you might have Epstein-Barr, you might have Lyme, you might have whatever. Things just explode. And now you're in trouble, or you have an oral infection, or you have a cavitation, whatever. We can go down that entire rabbit hole.
Huge. I love that rabbit hole.
That's a big one.
I had Dr. Gandhi on here this week. He was one of my favorite biologic dentists.
Amazing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I have a whole story.
He changed my life about cavitation surgery.
I had 4 cavitation surgeries. I had 4 cavitation surgeries by Dr. Valerie Cantor, top biodentist on the West Coast.
Yeah. And you had the cone beam X-ray?
I had the cone beam, of course. Everyone in my family's cone beams. What's that?
Everyone in my family's cone beams. I got everyone cone beam now.
Cone beam, your cone beam.
Hey, I got my wife up in these phoresis in Switzerland for our anniversary. So there you go.
Amazing.
We're not that far apart. Yes. Yeah. You get cone beam x-rays for Christmas. Yeah. It's a cone beam x-ray.
It's the greatest gift of all time.
It is a great gift.
Yeah. But I'm not a big x-ray guy or CT guy, but the cone beam, you do. You got to see what's in there. And if you had your wisdom teeth pulled—
So you had 4 of them done?
I had 4 of them done.
Wow.
I was asymptomatic, but I intuitively thought something was wrong here. I just felt it in some of the most quiet moments of my life. So, I went and got the cone beam, and sure enough, I had 4 deep pocket cavitations, and I immediately got rid of them. This was in 2020. And boom, aha moment.
Yeah, same for me.
Clarity, efficiency, total recall.
Focus.
Focus. And that goes in line with what we're talking about here. this whole journey we're on, it's just, we're sharpening the blade. You know what I mean? And momentum in life can go any direction. You know what I mean? Like, you start like getting depressed, you start reaching for things that aren't good for you. It's part of like the escapism thing. A lot of people go through that because people are suffering out there. I'm empathetic to that. I feel that. I know you do too. I can feel it in your heart when we met.
Yeah.
That's why we do what we do. And when you see that, like, there's certain nuances that if they just elevate here, all of a sudden they can get to a point where they can start moving the next direction. And it just takes one moment. It takes one conversation. And that's, that's the beauty that I feel with Symbatica. That's the beauty that I feel with our entire organization, because people recognize me on the street, not for being a celebrity.
Yeah.
They recognize me for, like, really fighting for them. and being transparent and being open to have these conversations.
Yeah.
I'm not hiding behind a boardroom. I'm not hiding behind a shelf with a suit and tie. Nothing against that, but I'm like, I'm in it. You know, I live in these labs. I live on this excursion of getting to the highest level of attainment because this life matters. You know, like, this life matters.
You only get one run at it. Yeah.
It's the only way you have to think. And your entire ecosystem will evolve around you. And that's— isn't that the point of being healthy? The point of being healthy— we also talked about this and we're aligned here— it's not to be recognized as the healthiest person. Who cares? Yeah, it's about elevating your tribe. Yeah, your town, your city. And that's, you know, that's where we got to go, man.
Yeah, I totally agree with you. I want to— because this conversation could go so many directions, I want to sort of zero in on, on the gut.
Yeah.
I've watched a lot of your posts. I think you're spot on with the gut where, you know, you'll dish out 5 things that people can do for their gut. I love that you go back to mastication too, because one of the things that does get overlooked in a lot of regions where people spend a prolonged amount of time, meaning time eating, is that it's engaging and it's a social environment. Europeans are famous for this. late night, long dinners, um, you know, because it's—
it—
there's a big social component to it. You know, it's one of the reasons why I think the French, when you looked at longevity studies, were able to mitigate the effects of cigarettes and wine, right? Um, because when they were having cigarettes and wine, it was usually around community and connection.
That's right.
And, and we know that the—
It's a ceremony.
Yes, ceremony.
Ceremony.
Ceremony.
Yeah, yeah.
They weren't just Smoking cigarettes wildly in their car.
No.
Smacking down a bottle of wine, you know, straight out of bed. The wine and that nicotine in the cigarette just signified it was that time of the day where they were decompressing and they were connecting with their family. And that connection was more powerful than the downside of what they were consuming. I'm not saying have long dinners, eat late, drink wine, smoke cigarettes. That's not what I'm saying.
But you're making a qualitative point that there was purpose behind it. It wasn't unconscious.
Yes.
Right.
It wasn't unconscious. It wasn't just mindlessly ripping on a pink vape. But you touch a lot on mastication, which is just chewing your food. You slow down enough to, I mean, most of us eat like somebody's gonna steal it from us.
100%.
Right? Big bolus bites of chicken or meat or fish. And that gets into the gut. There's not enough surface area for the enzymes to get around them. And indigestion, bloating, gas, constipation, they're linking it to the food, not actually the way that they ate.
Totally. And they took down, you know, 20 ounces of soda water in the process, diluting their hydrochloric acid.
Yeah, yeah.
This goes back to the Ayurveda and the TCM, where every bite has a conscious surrounding to it. There's like an energy to it. You're so present with food. You know, food again, we're just like, we're taking down food and all over the place, the mind's all over the place. You know, food begins when you start thinking about it. That's when, you know, you can feel enzymes and saliva and all that stuff. There's a— it's a beautiful experience. And think about, we're taking the information from the food.
So true.
Food is information. Our body's learning from it.
Yeah.
Right? That's why—
Definitely sending a signal.
That's why when you have like, Glyphosate, GMO food, the bodies can't learn anything except resist like hell. And that's where you get your celiac and your body's resistance and histamine and all that, because it's defending itself.
Mm-hmm.
As mass cell activation, whatever, because the body's not recognizing it. And so, I love this point from a gut health perspective, is that we have to chew our food. We have to not dilute our stomach acids. And these are basic things that bring you to the present. And I think that's the ultimate way to break bread. We did it last night. Yeah. You know, I don't know if you saw how slow I was eating.
Yeah.
I was the slowest eater because I was really present with the conversation. And I was just making sure that the quality of the food was becoming something that my body can receive.
Yeah. Yeah. Well, you got good quality food. I assure you.
That was the best. No, that was world-class, my friend.
That was a great dinner. So, let's go down into the gut microbiome and what, if anything, have you formulated for the gut microbiome, for gut dysbiosis? What is some advice that you would give to people that want to start addressing gut-related issues at a macro level? And what does a good, healthy gut lifestyle look like?
Well, I think, you know, I think elimination diets, Are important, in my opinion. I think people have to see what their body responds to and what their body doesn't respond to. And you also have to get to a point where you're looking at the diversity of foods that you're introducing to your body and have it be at a place where your body agrees with it. There is a level of intuitiveness. You know, you can go and get, you know, fecal testing and see exactly your stool testing and see exactly what's going on in your microbiome to see if you have. Bacteria that's all over the place and the ratios are all over the place. Please do go do that, Genova or whoever, I don't know. And, but for me, it really, it just, it starts with your ritual. Your ritual is gonna dictate how your body breaks down food, because if you're stressed out and you have cortisol in your body, you're gonna lack certain enzymes.
Yeah.
It's just 101.
So true.
How can you eat food if you're running away from a lion?
That's so true, right?
And so if you're caffeinated, if you're you know even if you're dehydrated, that's another thing. I think we're clinically dehydrated.
Most of us are dehydrated because we don't have enough minerals, not even just enough fluid. So I've been working out with my son lately, trying to keep up with him and his high rocks competitive athletes, and I've been starting to use this perfect amino pre-workout. I really like it. It's got BH four. It improves nitric oxide output. But it actually seems to stay after the workout and not crash. There's no stimulants, so no caffeine, no ma Huang, nothing that gives you that kind of amped feeling. You just feel like you're maybe better able to move during the workout, like you have better blood flow. So if you're in the market for a pre-workout, check out the Perfect Amino pre-workout. It's my favorite now. Now let's get back to the Ultimate Human Podcast.
We don't have sodium chloride. We don't have magnesium. We don't have, you know, potassium. We don't have all of those things to actually bring the hydrogen into the cell because it's, you know, it's electrical. And so, there's just, I think there's a really, you know, I think some people get too complicated with the microbiome where they get too much into the ratios.
I totally agree with you.
Yeah, and the market doesn't want that. People want to know what to do. Now, I'm also of the person that says you should discern a little bit. Like, listen to our conversation, but don't just take it at face value. Take what we say and investigate, right? 'Cause when you investigate, you are giving yourself an authority. And when you're in your human agency, now you'll go make the decision and follow through with it. It's kind of like, you know, remember studying for an exam the day before, you'd ace the test, and then 3 days later, it's completely out of your brain?
Oh yeah.
Right, it's the same thing because I wanna— I don't give a shit about that subject.
Right. Who cares?
Right?
Right.
It's the same thing with today. People want an allopathic answer, and that allopathic answer is not serving them, especially with the microbiome. Understand the fundamentals. Understand gut health. Understand what the surface of the gut, the mucosal layer. Understand, you know, that your Tums is probably the worst thing for your gut. Understand what pH represents, you know, the percentage of hydrogen, the pH levels. of the gut need to be. Maybe you gotta introduce more acidic things to your body. Maybe it's more fermented foods. Maybe you need to do a little bit of apple cider vinegar before each meal. Maybe your protein needs to be earlier in the day, right? When your stomach acids are stronger. You know, there's certain things that you just need to start doing. Maybe shut down all that coffee. You know, it's just, the coffee's blowing you out. Maybe it's burning you out a little bit.
Yeah.
You know, find a balance. I work a lot with aloe vera.
I'm a huge fan for calming the gut.
Huge fan. You know, we have aloe growing all over Southern California. I was eating that stuff all the time. It's like I'm made of it.
Yeah.
Like, you're made of the stuff you eat.
Yeah.
You're— I mean, you are made of the earth. I remove all the organic material from your body, you'll turn into like a pile of sludge.
Yeah.
You know what I mean? You're made of earth minerals. Yeah. You know, it's amazing.
Yeah.
And so, really, like, it's just— I think we talked about it yesterday. I was like, all of this kind of has a common sense, right? There's like a root common sense to this. When it comes to our formulations, I wanted all these products to be really easy on the gut and easily digestible. So, you don't have to, like, break down hard matter and all that kind of stuff. And so, the formulations were designed that way, that they're soft and gentle, and the delivery systems are so easy. You know, we have our CMOS formula and I have tributyrin in there. We have a postbiotic in there. You know, I'm a big fan.
What is a postbiotic?
Postbiotic is—
I know what it is, but we know, everybody's heard of probiotics, but—
Butyrate, you know, butyric acid, you know, which we now know is critical.
One of the most important byproducts.
One, you know, one round of antibiotics, you could wipe that entire chain out. And then your colonocytes don't have them. And now all of a sudden, there's a breakdown in digestion, communication. SIBO can come in, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, all of those things. There needs to be a really— like, it's fragile there, as it should be, because it's hyper-intelligent. So, it's sensitive, you know?
Yeah.
You know, it's— I see people chasing something. They're chasing better gut health without understanding the microbiome. And I think from my standpoint, stopping what you've been doing, eliminating, going into a fast, all of these things are of the highest priority of strategy for me. Yeah, I told you, I fast 2, 3 days every 2 weeks. I take Sundays off from food pretty much entirely. I allow my body—
Just every Sunday, just give yourself a 24-hour break.
100%. That's like one of the first things you need to do. Water's number one. If you're dehydrated, you're going to have gut issues.
Yes.
You know, because why? Because constipation in this world, in this country, is high. And that is a toxic load to the system that affects the microbiome. You know, also food combinations. Like, what are you mixing your food with? If you're eating proteins with refined carbs, your body is confused on what it's trying to digest, you know, from a glucose perspective and an insulin perspective. Glucose, fructose, they digest quick. Fruits digest super quick. Proteins, fats, they take, you know, proteins can take hours.
Yeah.
So, it's a different alchemy, right? And so, I, you know, that's back to the Ayurveda and TCM perspective. Food combining is very important in those traditions. And I, I, I, it works well for me.
Yeah.
You know, those are strategies that work very well for me.
What are some big food combinations that you sort of just blanketly follow? Don't— not hyper-specific, but, you know, for somebody that isn't very conscious about whether or not they're having a pile of rice and a pile of fruit and a pile of steak, you know, um, what, what do those food combinations look like?
Well, I'm, I'm known as a qualitarian.
I'm pretty familiar with the diets. I haven't I think I've heard that one. Yeah.
People always ask me like, are you vegan? Are you pescatarian? Are you raw? Are you carnivore? Whatever. I'm qualitarian.
Ah, quality.
Quality or flexitarian.
I'm a qualitarian too, man.
You're a qualitarian too?
Yeah.
When you served dinner last night, oh, Gary's qualitarian.
Yeah. Okay. I get it. Very much so. I'm a psycho about that.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
I'm just careful. Like there's certain things that I'm not gonna mix. You know, I really like if I'm going to go with the proteins, you know, from red meat and stuff, that I'm going to mix that with greens, right? So I can get some of those enzymes in there. There's like a— there's a genius to it, but it's simple. You know, I'm not going to mix fruits with my food. I'm very careful with that. You know, this whole thing, like 4 entrees and then a dessert.
Mm-hmm.
What are we doing? People are eating like hamburgers and steaks and all this stuff and also putting ice cream behind it. Like, I can't— wondering why they're fermenting.
Yeah.
And why they're bloating. That's kombucha.
Right, that's kombucha.
I mean, that's really what's happening.
Yeah.
And they're wondering why they're depressed. Like you just said, they're not sleeping properly. If you eat that stuff after the sun's gone down, you're not gonna sleep good that night.
No.
And then you don't sleep good that night, and then you wake up, and then you got all that sodium, and your body's been trying to cleanse that all night. We talked about it, your glymph system's not— can't— the glymphatic cannot release all that metabolic waste and all that turnover. Now you're wondering why your vision's going out. You have headaches, your brain fog, all that kind of stuff. It's really simple. Just stop doing stupid stuff. You know what I mean? Like kind of snap out of that. Stop doing stupid stuff. Yeah, 'cause it's, you know, I'm not trying to be harsh, but it's like, it's nonsensical. To keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. That's they call that insanity, right?
Right.
Just change it. Take a radical shift, and everyone's doing it. I've seen people all of a sudden that look completely different. I haven't seen them in two years. They're on the program. They get it all of a sudden. Now they get it, and they're you know what it is at the end of the day? It's self-love.
Yeah. They've actually said presence. Yeah.
Yeah. I actually matter.
Yeah.
I'm worth it. Yeah, it might be a little uneasy and uncomfortable out the gate because I'm used to the addictions of all this stuff. I'm used to this style of eating. I'm constantly feeding my system and it's taking me here and dopamine and whatever the hell is going on. But all of a sudden, like, oh no, I'm gonna choose— I'm gonna choose me now. I'm moving that stuff out.
Yeah, you know what's wild too is, is I've led tens of thousands of people on water fasts And one of the common things I hear is that sometimes eating is just a behavioral pattern. You know, they're like, man, I just got up from my desk and I walked to the refrigerator and I opened the refrigerator door and I realized that I wasn't even hungry.
That's right.
I just hadn't taken that action in a while. So, I got up to take that action. And when I frame hunger for them, that hunger during a fast is not constant. It comes in 20-minute waves about every 3 hours. So you don't need to be really strong for 15 hours or 14 hours. You need to be strong for 20 minutes every 3 hours.
That's right.
So get up, walk around, have some spring water, get outside, do some breathwork, you know, change your scene, change your state, and it'll be gone. Yeah. All right.
Change your reality. Shift something. Like, snap out of it.
And it'll be gone.
I love, I love that frame because You're right, it's a pattern. Yeah, it's, it's an addiction, and we all have them. We all have some form.
It's just purely behavioral.
Yeah.
So, so I want to get into some of what you've, um, formulated for the gut. Um, what, what are, what are some of the formulations that you're proud of, that you poured yourself into, and that you would say for people with gut dysbiosis or have a framework of really wanting to address the gut, is it a Probiotic? Is it colostrum? Is it all of the above? I mean, what do you—
I think it's all of the above. You know, it's that symbiotic. It's that portfolio. You know, first of all, all the products are designed to be really easy on the gut. You know, so it's easily absorbed. It's not a war. You don't have to go to war with the food. Obviously, you know, our front runner is our liposomal glutathione, PQQ, CoQ10. with riboflavin in there to activate.
Yeah, the B vitamin. Yeah, that's right.
That formula, I mean, you know, master antioxidant manufactured by the liver, used all over the body.
Every single cell in your body has glutathione.
That's right.
Every single living one. It's a tripeptide.
It chelates, it pulls things out. It wants to stick to things and take things out, you know. And a lot of people that I know that have some type of dysbiosis or whatever, they get on a round of that for about 60 90 days, and all of a sudden they're feeling a lot better. Their skin's looking a lot better, their vision's a little bit better, they can hear, they can smell better. That's what glutathione does. It takes the burden off the liver too, so it can do other things. The liver, as you know, is the master— Oh my gosh. Master alchemist of the body. It's not a filter.
It's fascinating. It can actually take over the function of other organs. That's right.
It's incredible what the liver can do.
It is. That thing is a punching bag. I'm not suggesting that you treat it poorly because you shouldn't.
No.
Because if you ever want— if you want one organ on on your team, you want the liver.
And in TCM, the liver is the seat of anger and frustration. That's how the ancient Chinese medicine doctors felt the liver was. If the liver's burdened, if it's fatty, if it's acidic, if it's necrotic or whatever's happening to it, then you're in a theme of anger, which is really interesting.
That's super interesting.
Because you think about how what alcohol does to certain people and all that kind of stuff. 'Cause at some point the liver just will stop. And that all that stuff, material and everything that, you know, the derivatives, acetaldehyde, it goes up the portal vein and then goes out the lungs.
Right.
That's why you can breathe a flammable material.
Yeah.
And then that circulates.
You can tell in people's breath too.
Halitosis is not from gingivitis. It's coming from the portal vein.
Yeah.
You know, 'cause all those gases and toxins There's nowhere for it to go. They put it in the bloodstream to come out of the lungs. The lungs is the main detox, one of the main detox areas, right? That's why breathwork is so powerful, 'cause you're detoxifying the body.
Yeah.
So, gut and this entire chain of that entire system is all relegated to this harmony. And so, back to the formula, I think the glutathione formula, it's huge. Our colostrum. That took years to do, man.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Actually, Shahab was talking to me about that and explained about how you really wanted to preserve the calf's capacity to suckle first, and you didn't wanna interrupt that at any price. And then immediately thereafter is when you harvest it.
That's exactly— I've known about colostrum for 20 years.
Dude, I—
Since I was 20, I've been on the colostrum.
I get raw colostrum from this. This guy, I'll show it to you in bags out here.
I think I know the guy.
Golden bat. Oh really?
I probably know.
In in right outside of Boulder.
Yeah, yeah. He's cryogenically frozen.
Cryogenically frozen.
Of course, he's a wildcat.
And I take the you take the the deer antler. The deer antler.
We know the same guy.
Nobody knows that, man.
We know the same guy. I'm telling you, we have all communicate with one wire. I know. I know him very well.
Yeah.
I'm not going to say his name on this.
No, you can't say his name.
But yeah, yeah, yeah.
And either either gets Gold, cash, or crypto.
That's right.
That's right.
I've known. I've known he's got things right for 15 years. Really? He's a character.
He's a character. Yeah. He looks a lot younger.
Looks great.
Yeah.
He looks fantastic. He's strong.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It doesn't work out.
Yeah. I haven't seen him in in a long time, but I know exactly who that is.
And wow!
No, he got me on colostrum.
Yeah.
And so I'm like, oh, that makes total sense.
Colostrum is very expensive, by the way.
Very expensive.
Crazy.
Yeah. It's, I mean, that's overly priced.
Right.
Overly, like it's ridiculous. But we got the closest thing because we, I found a 3rd generation family that basically works with an entire corridor from southern Wisconsin to Michigan to Pennsylvania. A lot of the farms are part of a co-op. These are Amish farms too. Grass-fed cows. They let the calf get most of the, you know, most of the colostrum till they had their fill. And then they come in and get that last 15, 20%.
Wow.
And so, and they cryogenically freeze it on the spot.
They do.
So, it's frozen. So, it has all the bioactives, the lactoferrin, the immunoglobulins, and we do a full spectrum in our colostrum. So, we're not just taking out that— Nothing's been changed. This is the entourage effect, exactly like what we talked about, how we don't use one single compound. We don't touch the colostrum. It's raw. It's unadulterated. It's not been, you know, nothing has been deviated from the plan.
Wow.
And then we put that in with our material, with our phospholipids. We put that in our emulsion, and I added Icelandic sea salt from the top part of Iceland and organic vanilla extract. And now you have one of the best desserts of all time.
Yeah.
And there you go. And colostrum, it has an intelligence.
It really does.
It helps with iron absorption. Bunching out immune system activities.
Positive signaling to the immune system, sealing that single-cell layer of the gut, tightening the junctions, what's called the tight junctions in the luminal wall of the gut, which I can't even tell you the source of pathology and disease that comes from just leaky gut and—
Cytokine storm.
Cytokine storm, immune activation, autoimmune in different regions of the body. toxic leakage into the body, immune activation, inflammation, gut dysbiosis, you know, all of these things. What is for you, because there's something specific I really want to get to, so I want to leave time for that, but what is it, what does a day of supplementation and food look like for you? Like, what's a typical day in your life?
What's the protocol? Yeah, everybody asks me that. I'm sure they ask you too. I'm sure they ask you.
They ask me too. Yeah, I, I have a slide of my daily routine just so— because I'm not— I, I'm not— I don't want to hide it. I'm like, this is what I do every day. You want to know how I get 100% sleep score? This is what I do. And I love it. Ah, I don't want to get in the sauna at night. Okay, well, you just asked me what I do.
Who doesn't want to get in the sauna at night?
But lots of people do not.
I want to get in the sauna at night before bed.
Um, I do a sauna and Cool plunge, and that not yeah no that was a smart hack.
I like that idea. I'm gonna take that on. I just gotta jump down into the lake.
Yeah.
My protocol is pretty simple. I try not to get all over the place, and sometimes it depends on season and just how I feel and where I'm at.
Yeah.
Because sometimes I'm in an anabolic state, like I'm I'm here to you know get some muscle on and some movement. Sometimes I'm catabolic, or I'm fasting. You know, I'm— you can't always be on, right? And that's the seasonality of things. That's the cyclical nature. And I think that's the healthiest way of living, in my opinion. But from a universal perspective, I wake up every rise from the sun, no alarm. So, I'm up around 5:30 every rise. And from that point on, it's, you know, 24 ounces of spring water with A teaspoon of Icelandic sea salt and a little bit of molecular hydrogen. That's kind of my rise.
Huge fan. Huge fan.
Yep.
Yeah.
Then I go into a shilajit tea. I think we sell the most shilajit on earth.
Do you really?
I think so.
Wow.
Yeah. And we, you know, pure.
And what is it about shilajit, this fulvic mineral complex, that's— which I would agree with you, I think shilajit, sea moss, Or a good mineral salt, like a really, really good sea-based, preferably mineral salt, just so that we are getting those trace minerals. There's 91 trace minerals that nobody talks about. Crazy.
All that, all that energy and information.
Yeah.
And electricity and voltage. I just see it as voltage. It's mitochondrial, like lighting it up.
Yeah.
Which is allowing my body to convert other nutrients into usable energy. Right.
Is the SheLegit product still the We have 2.
We have one that's a resin, which is a black tar, just, you know, black, right? Black's blood building, right?
That's shilajit.
That's shilajit. And then we, you know, we made a delicious one, you know, because a lot of people just can't take on and eat that. Yeah, which I can, but some people can't. So we added it with Peruvian cacao. Have you not tried it?
Okay. I'm on the road constantly, different time zones, back-to-back days, no room for a slow morning. And the one thing I can't afford to lose is my edge. That's why NAD has become non-negotiable for me. It's the molecule our cells use to produce energy and repair, and it naturally declines as you age. When you're pushing hard, that decline shows up really fast. Symbiotica's liposomal NAD packets— I throw them in my bag, I take them everywhere. No pills, no mixing, just open it and take it. I take mine every single morning before anything else. My focus, my recovery, my energy on the road are genuinely different. I'm excited for you to experience that same difference. This is exactly the kind of tool we're committed to bringing you— the highest quality, the real science, nothing that doesn't belong in your body. So check the link below and your cells will thank you. Now let's get back to the Ultimate Human Podcast.
We, we mix it with cacao, Icelandic sea salt, uh, Brazilian organic honey, and organic hazelnut butter. Wow. So basically turn shilajit into like this perfect Nutella. But clean and perfect.
Dude, it's a great pre-workout.
I'm gonna give it to you right after this, or we might have to pause. It's so good.
Can somebody grab it and we'll try it right here on the podcast?
Yeah, yeah.
All right, where is it?
I'll grab it. I'll grab it from my backpack. Okay, I'll have you take it right on.
Okay, come in and then grab it out.
It actually might be in that little white bag right there. It might be.
Dude, you painted such a picture. I gotta—
oh yeah, that's it.
Oh, I just so happen to have one.
No, that's not it.
That's Gary. Yeah.
Nice bag.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You like that? I got it from one of my favorite brands.
Let's go. All right, here we go.
By the way, this was totally not planned. I swear to God. But the way he described this, I got to try this.
There it is. So in Hawaii, look at colors too.
It's like it's never just blue or orange.
No, no, no, no.
It's like really All right, shilajit.
Look at that, dude. All right, is it really? It is. There's a nice dose of high-altitude shilajit in there with some of the best material compounds in the world, and that is pure life force energy, man. How good is that?
So good.
It's like somebody asked me, do we have cacao in our formulas? I think it was Joanne or someone. There it is right there. That's organic cacao, dude.
You could have this at the end of a meal. As a dessert.
Exactly.
Like legit.
And that helps with digestion. That actually helps the body with digestion, with the complexity in there as well. How good is that?
So good.
Next level?
Next level. No, it really is good, man. I swear to God, we don't plan this, but this is— I'm glad we did it.
So now you got to have it with the colostrum.
Okay. Yeah. Bring it on. Wow, that is really good.
Yeah.
Well, I might have to augment my mineral stack.
That needs to be your pre-workout.
Yeah, really?
That's a great pre-workout.
Shilajit?
Shilajit.
Okay.
Yeah, especially with the other compounds in there. Just sustainable energy, you know.
I've been getting after it lately, so I'm going to try it. I'll take any edge I can get when my 25 and 22-year-old sons kick my That's good. Oh my God, dude, that's even better. That's got honey in it.
There's no honey in it.
There's honey in there.
No.
I'm calling bullshit on the label.
There's no honey.
It tastes so good.
It's mother's milk, and it got out of its way. All I added was organic vanilla extract with Icelandic sea salt.
This is so good, I want to cry. This is delicious. This may be my favorite.
This guy that you've made got Durana emotional.
Really?
Because Durana, you know, she's she's tough to make happy when it comes to flavor. She loves the colostrum, which makes me so happy because she's my wife's spirit animal.
My wife loves Durana.
I know how good that is for her.
Wow! You know, dude, that was that was like a dessert break, bro. That was no.
Is that the best ever?
That was so good. The, the Sheila Jit is excellent. The colostrum is next level. So that is next level.
Now, that's another thing about Symbiotica is like, in my head, I was like, how can we deliver these payloads but not make it so harsh and also have it rememberable? So it's experience.
Yeah.
So there is an organoleptic experience and it's an efficacious process as well. So not only are you getting this incredible payload of health, But you're— there's nuances of flavor and experience.
Yeah.
And it's not some synthetic flavor or something harsh or whatever. It's not bubble gum. It's literally just the organic terpenes, which is the expression of a fruit or extract.
That's what I taste.
Vanilla, cacao.
Literally tasted like a package of chocolate honey. Yeah, it was so good.
That's because that's cacao.
Wow. Yeah, that was legit. Now I lost my whole train of thought, but what I'm most excited about, and we'll cut this out if I'm bringing it up too early, but I gotta go here.
Let's go.
Since I have been on this journey very authentically and publicly with my wife as she went through menopause, and we got it fixed and worked out, meaning hormone-wise, testing-wise, nutrition-wise, But she is so excited about the new women's health formulations that you've got coming out. October?
Yes, coming out in October.
And because there's a giant hole in our industry right now, and we treat men and women identically with supplementation, with workouts, with fasting, with cold plunging, with weight training, with just about everything. And they are Very much different beings than us. And they have a rhythm, then they have a cycle. And what's fascinating is some of their cycle is tied to the lunar cycle, which is— so they're more in sync with their circadian cycle than we are, right? We don't switch gears throughout the month.
We're 24 hours, 28 days.
Yeah, exactly. And they can be 3 different people at 3 different times of the month. And I legitimately mean that. Temperature-wise, mood-wise, ability to manage stress-wise, ability to add stress-wise, even things like taxing the body with cold plunging, all of these things. But, I don't think that anyone has created supplementation for women specifically designed around struggle with premenopause and menopause.
Yep.
And, she is fired up for this supplement to come out. I think she's going to be your biggest influencer. Can you talk a little bit about the structure and the formulation, what led to it, what's in it, what makes it unique?
You know, it's quite the endeavor, you know, 'cause it means something. It's a very purpose-desired formula. Like, we really wanted to create an outcome here. We didn't wanna just kitchen sink it. We wanted to have real clinical results and understand that we're putting something together that's gonna make a difference. And we're not trying to mask symptoms. We're just really trying to get to the root. Where's the miscommunication happening during this holy time for a woman. This is a rite of passage. And it's, you know, it's to me, I never liked how the mainstream media and the world and the film world looked at that cycle. I thought that it was demeaning, you know? And I always felt that at an early age. I was like, why are they doing this? You know, whether it's the PMS thing or the menopause thing and stay out of their way or whatever.
Mm-hmm.
Forget that.
Yeah.
This is, this is part of the evolution of life. I think what triggered this is, you know, Chob's wife, Durana, was going through a process. My sister, my older sister is going through a process. And, you know, we have a lot of epic women in our ecosystem. You know, like they run the show, actually, you know, Me and Shahab and the other guys, Adam and Jared and Justin and Cam, our entire team, we're just supporting the women.
Yeah.
That's the truth. We're just like protectors. They're the ones that are driving the ship. So, this is like giving back to that community and doing it the right way. And so, we put this formula together, me and my sidekick, Dr. Shilpa Rao, and we looked through all the evidence material We went back to Ayurveda. You know, we found a—
The oldest form of medicine known to man.
The wisdom of science, of human nature, and the oldest, the most ancient, the Sanskrit, the Vedas. You know, all the charting of our world comes from this origin story. And so, fenugreek is a very powerful compound that has associations with all kinds of Symptoms and relieving certain stress markers in the body and allowing the nervous system to go back to, you know, homeostasis, which is what we want during that process.
Out of that sympathetic state.
That's right.
Yeah.
They're going to pull back.
Meaning the fight-or-flight state.
Right. Which is going to just create more resistance and more issues. We paired that with some other compounds like L-theanine and a few other healthy fats and things of that nature. And we put it into our liposomal matrix. And it is, I mean, it's world-class. You know, it's just—
This can't get out fast enough. It can't get out fast enough.
Perhaps.
Off camera, I'm coming after you for those.
And you—
2 women in my life that I want to get this to.
And then you merge that with our magnesium complex, right? Now you have something that's so sophisticated because we have the most, one of the most complex magnesium formulas on the market. And we are one of the only companies. Well, we have magnesium glycerol phosphate, which is a trademark of GevoMag. I put that in there. This crosses every barrier in the body. We have magglycinate in there. We have magtorate in there. We have, you know, in our delivery system. So you're getting cardiovascular. So three forms.
Three forms.
Yeah, it's a tri complex. And it's, you know, we just did a study on this. Wait till you see the results on the study. Yeah.
You know, you know, you know what I find? I used magnesium. complexes in groups when I have clients that have bowel issues.
Yep.
And also ruminating thoughts at night, and especially the type where you don't just ruminate when you go to bed, but you get up at night and you go back to sleep or try to go back to sleep. But as soon as you get back in bed, the lights come on upstairs and you just ruminate and can't get back to sleep. And it's usually the people that are— they'll have that pattern, and they also won't have, you know, regular bowel patterns.
That's right.
And that is, that is a fix that almost universally works across the board. It's fixing that magnesium deficiency, but using more than just the threonate or the citrate, just a single form, so that you cover all of the bases with magnesium, quiet the mind, and you actually start the bowels Moving again. If you hit sleep and bowel movement, um, I mean, those are 2 just foundational umbrella stuff to do.
Yeah, that just moves the entire lever up, right?
So you would pair this?
I would pair that with the Menopause Formula. I think that combination right there.
And how do you take it? Is it like the ribociclib?
That's right.
Packs again? Okay.
That's it. Rip it and sip it nonstop.
And do women take this in the morning?
Uh, I think we're gonna do that in the evening.
Okay.
I think this is the evening formula.
That and the magnesium at night. That's right.
Just calm that nervous system, get the phenolic and L-theanine in there, get the tri-complex of magnesium and the salts and the healthy fats. This is creating that wave of where the cortisol comes down and the body's central nervous system finds balance so it can actually go into that next stage, which is sleep. Yeah. And that right there causes, you know, helps the body repair.
Yeah.
You know, and it's, These things are not drugs.
No. Oh, no, no, no.
They're nutrients that are—
They're signaling molecules.
Yeah, they're nutrients that ultimately lead you towards a direction.
Yeah. You know, I often talk about sleep as not just being tired, it's the body feeling safe to shut off.
That's right.
The body feeling safe to shut down. And so we don't sleep when there's a threat. You know, like our servicemen don't really sleep in foxholes, right? If there's a threat, it's that constant state of awareness scanning the environment, what's going to happen. Whether the threat is perceived or real, it doesn't matter. The body perceives it the same way. And it's that heightened state of alertness, ruminating thoughts. They all run in the same pack.
That's right.
And being able to help people throttle back naturally without something that is tranquilizing them, right? Tranquillitics don't help you sleep. They just keep you from being conscious.
That's exactly right.
And it's a—
there's no recovery model that's occurring from tranquillitics.
Yeah.
You know, repair is not really synthesizing. There's no regeneration. And the detoxification processes are, you know, meager at best.
Yeah.
Which is what sleep's all about.
Yeah. So in a perfect world, where does all this go for for Shervin? Where's your purpose? We're here, Gary. This kind of combination, Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, biodynamic farming, supplemental formulation, you know, is it to build the biggest, most impactful supplement company in the world? Is it to ride things out on your regenerative farm? I feel like you should be writing a book on philosophy.
Right. That's the next step.
Are you working? I knew it. I get 15% of that just for coming up with the idea on the podcast. 'Cause now it's documented evidence.
You're already in. That I came up with it. We're in this together.
Okay.
There's no walls here. I'm an open book. You know, Shahab's an open book.
Shahab's great.
He loves you. And he's my best friend.
Yeah.
We've known each other since we were 15.
Really?
Yeah.
Wow.
We go way back.
Usually it's hard for friends to build something as big as you guys have and not be at odds. You really gotta be oriented in the same direction.
Well, we have a healthy— it's a healthy friction.
Yeah.
Which is good because he's the best at what he does. And I believe I'm okay at what I do. And that balance of his, leadership, entrepreneurship goes very well with my heady science and my feet in the earth and all that stuff, because that's how I live. And I'm not trying to be anything that I'm not. You know, I'll suit up once in a while.
Right.
But that's not, it's just not who I am. That's not what gives me kicks. I wanna sit on the beach and talk with my best friends all night long about life. I wanna, I want philosophy, you know, I want meaningful conversations. I want to build the strongest relationships. I don't need to be friends with everyone. I just want my inner circle.
Yeah.
And I want to crack codes. And that's why you asked me what's next. I think it's going into that level of attainment. I really, really want to work on things that are of the highest passion because I have a taste of it now with Symbiotica, because this really is a passion project. It's, it's hard work. It's blood, sweat, and tears. It's sacrifice. I mean, there is sleepless nights. living in a lab, going on tours, constant, constant attention, you know, being connected to this phone device.
Yeah.
This damn thing, you know what I mean? This Achilles heel that is necessary for this cog, you know, for this machine. But at the same time, you know, the next chapter is rounding out the portfolio, quadrupling down on our science. We're already like, we have 7 more clinicals getting prepared for right now, really bolstering who we are, what we are.
Yeah.
You know, working with you, I'm so excited about our partnership.
I am too.
Because this is real.
I really, oh, it's a very real partnership.
Yeah.
I think it was a long, long time in the making.
Long time in the making. And I think with our minds and our hearts united and our teams united, We don't even know what we're capable of at this point.
Yeah, it's very true.
It's not some number or some nonsense. It's really our effect on humanity.
Yeah.
And just being that leader, you know, and bringing everyone with us because it's this divide and conquer stuff that's not working.
I agree.
That's not working. This is— that's scarcity or lack mentality.
Yeah.
You know, I see ego. It's ego and it's false ego, right? Healthy ego. We want to do good. We want to show up. We want to provide. Yeah. We want to crack codes. We don't want to take the status quo and say, that's, that's the best we can do. No, no, no, no, no. We're going to go all the way here and figure it out. And then we'll figure out how to monetize that later.
Yeah.
You know, and that's another testament to Shahab is he got it, you know, from the beginning with me. It was like, It's like, if we— we're not gonna build stuff just so we can make money. You know what I'm saying? Like, there were so many things that we worked on that we just never released because it was upside down, you know?
Yeah.
And that is a testament to this level of quality and care and commitment to excellence.
Yeah.
And so, Gary, we have limitless potential.
Yeah.
And I'm excited to learn from you.
Thank you.
I respect your acumen and your dedication to the craft. And I see the embodiment. And it was the embodiment more than anything else that has me as a follower.
Wow.
And thank you, student of life around you. And I'm so excited on what we can create together.
I am too, brother.
Yeah.
I'm so appreciative that you came on the Ultimate Human Podcast. You know, you may or may not know that I wind down all my podcasts by asking all my guests the same question. I can't wait to ask you this question. There's no right or wrong answer to this question, but what does it mean to you to be an ultimate human?
The ultimate human to me means to be living in your dharma, your chosen path that is part of your intuitive path. That is the ultimate. It doesn't matter what it is, but it's embodying purpose. And having nothing get in between that path.
Wow.
That to me is the ultimate, because everything else comes down under that— your health, your relationships. That's the core principle. Because if you're not in your dharma, you're not in your purpose, means nothing. Yeah. Because you're, you're out of alignment.
Yeah, I totally agree with that. Wow, guys, that was amazing. For my audience that, uh, doesn't know where to find you, how do they find you? Besides your place in Hawaii. Yeah, I'll actually find you, Gary. I'll dox you. You know, I'll let your address out.
You know, you'll find me in your hyperbaric chamber. Yeah, that's where you're gonna—
You're gonna be there today for sure.
That's where you're gonna find me, in Gary's hyperbaric. No, I, you know, I've tried not to be on like 10,000 platforms. It's just, I can't do it. But I am on Instagram.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah, sharebeam333.
Okay.
And, uh, it's time we become friends on Instagram.
Yeah.
And, uh, I'm not following you.
I'll be following you now. I was just looking at you.
And, uh, it's, uh, again, the momentum is beginning. I could feel it.
I mean, me too.
Yep.
Thoroughly hope that you enjoyed, uh, that podcast. I'll put the links to what we discussed in the, in the show notes. And until next time, that's just science.
