  1. Did you know that you can now test for HPV from home? In May of 2024, the FDA first approved HPV self-collection, letting you collect your sample instead of requiring a pelvic exam. And then in 2025, they approved the first at-home HPV test kit with no clinic visit required. This matters because about 60% of women who are newly diagnosed with HPV were actually behind on getting their Pap and HPV test done at the doctor's office. Being able to do an HPV test at home means that more women will identify that they have HPV earlier and be able to take action to prevent it from causing HPV-related cancer. A positive HPV test doesn't mean that you'll have HPV forever. It means that your body needs support to clear the virus, not just a wait-and-see approach. Testing positive tells you that HPV is active, and we can do something about that, even though the standard approach is just to wait and recheck to see if you need a procedure. If you tested positive for HPV, you have more options than you were likely told. Your body can clear HPV and prevent abnormal cells. It's better to know that you have it and be able to take action than to not know and find out later.
