How to Make a Million Dollars in Credit Repair with Troy Hitt
Troy Hitt maps out seven stages from starting a credit repair business to hitting $1 million in revenue. He stresses that tactics that work at one stage will fail at the next, so you need new systems and teams to scale. The journey moves from getting your first testimonial through automating operations and delegating via the E-Myth framework.

This is Troy on stage at Credit Repair Expo, the biggest event in credit repair history. All the leaders in credit repair were there, all in one room. My name is Daniel Rosen and welcome to Credit Repair Business Secrets. Get up out of your seats, put your hands together, help me welcome to the stage Troy Hill!
You can't see me, my time's up.
In case you forgot, I'm feeling— I know what you're thinking. Where's the beard? I know, I know. Where's the beard? This is what I call the D-level. If I get any shorter than this, my wife will divorce me. So this is it. This is as little as it gets. I wanted to get in fighting shape for y'all today because I got some exciting stuff. I'm super happy to be here. This is a bucket list. John Cena coming out. That's for my son.
Yeah.
We used to be big wrestling fans, so to come out to his walkout music was pretty cool. All right, I'm gonna stop this right now. All right, I want everyone to do me a favor right now. Look to your right and look to your left. You're sitting next to a future millionaire. You just may not know it. They may not know it, right? You may not know. Look again.
Look again.
Okay? You just may not know it. All right. So I'm Troy Hitt. I'm the head of customer success here at Credit Repair Cloud. I've had the privilege, I've had the privilege of coaching each and, well, thousands of credit repair businesses over the past 4 and a half years at Credit Repair Cloud. And it's great to see some faces in person finally. I'm super excited. It took a long time for me to discover this passion. Of helping entrepreneurs. So, but I just want you to know one thing. It didn't start at Credit Repair Cloud. It started right where you are, right here, right now. So some of you in the back of the room are probably thinking like, can I really do this? Well, I got an answer for you later, but I'm telling you that I was that person. So I was that person, and today I'm going to show you the exact roadmap, the exact journey that I took to take me from zero to a million dollars, not once but twice. Zero to a million, not once but twice. So the most important thing is here is I'm also going to show you how to do it. Okay, so we created something called the Millionaire's Journey Map. All right, now this is in your event guide so you can follow along. It's in that— it's in all that swag we gave you today. It's in your event guide so you can follow along. So, but it has 7 stages. It lays out all these 7 stages for your growth from $0 to $1 million and beyond. And it tells you the most important things that you need to do to get to the next level. And you don't wanna go to the next level until you've done everything in that level. But here's what I want you to understand about this journey. It not only, it's not just growing your business. You are the person that's gonna have to grow. You are the person that's gonna have to change. The person at stage 1 is definitely not gonna be the same person that was at stage 7. I'll repeat this. The person at stage 1 is not gonna be the same person that was at stage 7.
That's right.
You're not the same person at stage 7. I think we've got some 7 and beyonds in this room. One just got off stage, Bruce Paolatano. Give it up for him.
Yes.
At every level, you become somebody new. But I want to hear you. I want you to know this. Forgive me, I'm a little bit nervous. My wife and my son are in this front row for the first time ever. So, I'm gonna show you. I can't look at them. I'm gonna cry.
Oh, no.
I'm going to show you, but first let me just tell you a little bit about my own story. All right, I'm going to take you back. Little baby face right there. Yeah, where'd the beard go, right? I spent over 9 years in the United States Air Force. When most people hear Air Force, they think fighter jets, they think of combat missions. And yeah, I was trained for all of that, but the Air Force saw a little bit something different in me. They handpicked me to be an Air Force recruiter. They trained me in sales, marketing, And speaking, they gave me 5,000 square miles in rural Texas, Lake Jackson, and said, go be the face of the United States Air Force. I said, all right, let's do this. So, here's what nobody tells you about recruiting though. It's not much different than building a business. I have to network with everyone, key officials like law enforcement, other business owners, You just have to market yourself consistently, and you have to deliver value before asking for the sale. Sound familiar?
Yes.
Okay, yeah, it should, because that's exactly what you do every single day in credit repair, because you have to deliver value before you ask for the sale. So I did become one of the top recruiters in the nation, but it didn't happen overnight. I clocked over 100,000 miles, and in the Air Force, they give you what's called a G-ride, that's a government vehicle. I went through about 3 or 4 of those. About every 30,000 miles, they give you a new one. Thousands of mailers, hundreds of calls, hundreds of one-to-ones. I mean, that's basically a marketing strategy, right? It didn't happen overnight, but there's one thing that it did for me. It gave me that entrepreneurial bug. I literally went and built a business in 5,000 square miles. You ever heard of dominate your zip code? Well, I had about 17 of them that I had to dominate. And once you get bitten by that bug, there's no going back. So, I get out of the Air Force and I'm searching, right? I'm going— I did healthcare recruiting because I'm like, hey, I'm a recruiter. I'm gonna do some healthcare recruiting. I had— I've got to hire, you know, I worked my way up, had a high-rise corner office. It was great, but it didn't feel right. Um, I started a moving company with 5 semi-trucks. That didn't feel right. Started a fencing business with my golfing buddy. That didn't feel right either. But I was just looking for that thing. Nothing felt right. I was bouncing around from thing to thing. And the whole time something was missing. On our Millionaire's Journey Map, we call this stage 1, the dabbler. Okay. Now, this stage right here, it keeps— this is the one question that keeps you up at night when you hit this dabbler stage. Can I do this? Hold that thought. I'll get back to it in a bit. Then in 2003, something happened. My wife started working as a mortgage loan processor. And back in those days, it was not digital. Everything was in a big giant manila folder, right? Some of you nodding your head, you already know. Yes, that's right. There's— yeah, all my 50-plus.
All right.
Okay, cool.
Yeah. So, but inside of every one of those manila folders was a credit report. And she noticed that deal after deal wasn't closing. And it wasn't because the borrower couldn't afford it, it wasn't because they didn't want it, it's because they had bad credit. So she started fixing their credit. And just like that, Financing Available was born. That was the name of our first credit repair company. Because if we did our job right, they would have—
Financing available.
If we did our job right, they would have?
Finance.
Okay, yeah, so pretty cool name, right? Gotta give my wife all the credit for that one, right? Gotta give her all the credit for that one. All right, so our first office, this is a real picture of our first office, 150 square foot office, we're sitting back to back dialing for dollars, right? I mean, and we had entered this, and then in the journey map, this is called stage 2, this is the apprentice. So we're sitting back to back dialing for dollars, but the question at this level is no longer can I do this, it's how do I get clients, right?
Yeah.
How do I get clients? We had proven the concept worked, we knew how to fix credit, but we needed people, real paying people in the door. So I reached back into my Air Force marketing, because I was trained by the government in sales and marketing, not a lot of people can say that. I found this guy around town that had these portable signs, black signs with a black background, and he would put neon letters on them, and he would change the message out about every month, right? And we were fortunate enough to be on a busy cut-through street, so cars had a chance to just sit back and read our sign. Got bad credit?
Call.
I was like, cool, this is awesome. And the phones started ringing. We moved to a bigger office, needed more room, needed more filing cabinets, then a bigger office, needed more room, more filing cabinets, and then a bigger office, and then guess what? More room, more filing cabinets. You got it. Yeah, absolutely. Thanks for following along. So, that was just a little bit of my story in the Air Force. I was bouncing around. We started financing available. We were growing our office and system and more filing cabinets and more filing— remember manila folders? Okay, just to make sure everybody's like, why you got so many filing cabinets?
Millionaire folders.
Millionaire folders. But what I want to share to you today is not my story, it's actually your story. But I want you throughout this journey to put yourself in here wherever you think it works. Okay, so remember that millionaire's journey map I showed at the beginning? I mentioned earlier 7 stages from dabbler to empire builder, from $0 to $1 million and beyond. You need to master each stage one at a time. To move forward, each stage one at a time to move forward. Just want everybody to be clear. At every level, the map tells you what's most important. Now here's the single most important principle I can share, so write this down. Okay, I see everybody writing or faking it. I love it. Whatever got you here will crush you at the next level. Whatever got you here. will crush you at the next level. Every stage of growth requires you to let go of the thing that made you successful at the stage before. That's the game. That's the whole game. That's what's gonna get you through this journey. And most people, they can't do it. They hold on to what's comfortable. I know how to do this thing, okay? And that's why they get stuck. But not the people in this room, right?
Right. Yes? Yes.
Okay, not the people, that's right. That's not you. So let me walk you through all 7 stages one at a time real quick. We talked about the dabbler. This is $0, the team is you, okay? You're learning the basics, practicing your own credit, working on your friends and family for free, and getting your first testimonial. The question at this stage is, can I do this? Now, that was me bouncing from healthcare, moving trucks, fencing, searching for the thing, and then finding credit repair. But here's something I want you to hear, because this is how most people find this industry. Most people land here in this industry repairing their own credit first. Many of our millionaires in that same boat. They see the change in their own life, they get that approval, they buy the house, they finance the car, and something clicks. They're like, huh, maybe I can turn this into a business, right? So maybe I can help other people. That's exactly what happened to me. My credit wasn't perfect. When we started, it wasn't, I promise. But as I improved it, more doors opened, and that was my personal proof, and that was more fuel for me. That's proof of concept for me. If I could do it for me— oh yeah, that's me in the glasses there. Man, that's a good-looking dude. All right. So I don't know where he's at. She's still with me though. So if that's you right now, If you're sitting there thinking that you have to have it all figured out before you can help someone else, I want you to hear this. Your own story is your first testimonial, okay? Your own story is your first testimonial. So to advance past the dabbler stage, you need, you need one thing. You need results. You need testimonials from your free clients. That's your proof of concept. That's your ticket to stage 2. In this business, in any business, People do business with who they like, know, and trust. Okay? And they'll trust you by showing results in this business. They don't care how friendly you are. They're like, show me the results. Not show me the money, show me the results. Fix your friends, fix your family, fix your coworkers, their score-ups, and ask them one simple question. Who else do you know needs this? That's how referrals start. That's how trust spreads. Trust spreads through results. Now, stage 2, you're at $1K to $10K. This is your side hustle. You've proven it works, but you need to figure out how to get more people. Well, the question at this stage is, how do I get clients? This was my wife and I in that 150-square-foot office, back-to-back dialing. The focus at that stage was repetition. Meet your legal requirements, network locally, build relationships. And to advance, Get your first real referrals. That neon sign on that busy street, got bad credit? That was our moment. We used our customers for those referrals, right? Whether they were paying or free at that time, we didn't care. Just find us some other people, will ya? Because we can't afford marketing. All right, remember, whatever got you here will crush you at the next level. Getting those clients was about hustle and referrals, but to grow past this, you need a system. It's getting a little scarier as we go here, a little scarier, okay, a little scarier. Stage 3, you— now here's where it gets real, right? You're trying to figure out how to quit your day job. For most of us, it starts out as a side hustle. You're trying to figure out how to quit your day job, all right? You're like, man, I gotta really get rid of this boss. This would be really cool if I get rid of this boss or this 9 to 5. I'm sure this probably maybe half the room, if not more, or some just passed this stage. At this stage, you have to learn how to promote yourself consistently, not when you feel like it, but promote yourself consistently. You need partnerships, automated nurture, professional billing. For us, it was building partnerships, mortgage brokers, car dealerships, real estate agents, anyone else that deals were dying because of bad credit. They became our referral partners, and that changed everything. But we did give them one golden phrase, and they took it and ran with it. So at that point where they're telling people they're not qualified, we just said, hey, we gave them this phrase, it's not a no, it's a not yet. Let me introduce you to my credit specialist. And that's how they referred people. It wasn't, hey, I got a guy who can hook you up with that. You created a process, a system, very professional. You integrated yourself into their business is what you did. It's not a no, it's a not yet. Let me introduce you to our credit repair, our credit professionals. Great partnerships alone though won't get you there because there's 2 things that will kill your growth if you don't fix them. Clicker? There we go. Alright, 2 things that'll crush it if you don't fix them. Billing, okay? You can't scale by chasing down payments every time. Sam, where you at? Okay. Every time a card declines, You get that awkward call trying to collect payments. You can't— that's time you could be spending getting new clients. You have to worry about that. You need to set it and forget it and get that automatically done. When a payment fails, the system handles it, not you. The second thing is follow-ups. There's one thing I can recommend: read a book by Chris Smith called The Conversion Code. The fortune is in the follow-up. It never dies. It's evergreen. And let's be real about this. We all— you all know you need to be doing this, but life gets busy, right? A lead comes in on Monday and you get busy, life happens, and then by Friday you forget about it and someone else gets the business, right? And it's not because you're bad at it, it's just you're trying to do everything manually. So a nurture sequence does that work for you. While you're sleeping, while you're with your family, while you're working with your next client, your system is sending the right message at the right time, keeping you top of mind. That's not a nice to have. At this stage, that's what separates the people that stay stuck at $10,000 a year and the ones that break through and quit their job. Here's the good news. What I just mentioned is free inside your CRC account. So you don't have to worry about that. We've got billing handled for you, right? That's gonna automate your payment collections. Remember, we take all merchants as long as they have NMI or Authorize.net, and the marketing hub, which is powered by GoHighLevel, that's gonna automate your nurture sequence, okay, built in for you, no additional cost. Whatever you're paying won't change. So just come find us at the CRC booth, we'll get you activated, get you set up for free, no big deal. Alright, so to get past this stage, you have to automate your billing and follow-ups, improve your retention, and consistently generate referrals. Whatever got you here— who's been following along?
Me!
I love it. Manual hustle got you to $10K, but the systems are what are gonna get you to $30K and beyond. So now let's get serious. This is the quit your job stage. You're full-time, the pressure is on. This is stage 4, the expert. Your revenue is around $30K to $100K. Here's the key insight at this level, so pay attention. At this stage, your business growth almost completely depends on your time, and that's really valuable. That's— as entrepreneurs, that's the thing we devalue the most. But your business now depends on your time. You heard Bruce's story. Thank goodness he had a lot of systems in place, right? So you're doing the sales, you're doing the fulfillment, you're doing the marketing, you're doing the billing, you're answering the phone, you're doing everything, but it's not sustainable. This is where I went digital. This is where those filing cabinets went bye-bye. I walked into a boot camp, swiped my credit card for a software I didn't know anything about, and said, all right, let's figure this out. Now, I want to be very clear here, this was not Credit Repair Cloud. This was an entirely different software, entirely different company. We went from filing cabinets to a software platform, from Word docs and binders to a system. We even moved away from processing credit cards on the phone. Anybody here ever process credit cards on the phone? All right, am I 50+ in the house? Okay, all right. We used to type in a 10-digit merchant account number and 16-digit card and wait for those magic words, transaction approved. Hundreds and hundreds of times. It was our favorite day though, it's fun. For a while it all worked. The software wasn't perfect, it helped us refine our process, the business kept growing, more clients, more volume, more everything. Until one day, it crashed. That software crashed. Now, when I say crashed, I don't mean a glitch, I don't mean a slow day. All the clients, all the data, gone. 1,500 clients gone. We scrambled for months trying to minimize the damage. The CEO of the other company flew out, said he'd made it right. By that time, it was too late. The trust was broken. That's when Credit Repair Cloud came in and saved us.
Yeah!
Oh yeah. We actually knew, we actually knew about Credit Repair Cloud because we used their downsell product, their Credit Aid DVD back in the day, back in Daniel's early days, as our downsell product for people who didn't want to pay for our services. So we knew the company, we knew the quality. I reached out to Daniel and Keenan, and personally they answered all my questions, and trust me, I had a lot of questions. The transition felt like it took an eternity, but we finally recouped most of our clients. It was a manual process, I know that. But we never looked back at that point. Now, why am I telling you this? Because the experts at this— this is what the expert stage looks like. You're in the arena, you're growing, you're also vulnerable. One bad platform, one crash, one thing you didn't plan for, and it all comes crashing down. The lesson I learned the hard way: the software you build your business on matters. Don't be looking to cut corners saving costs on the software because it's cheaper. The software you build your business on matters. The partner, the partner you trust with your clients' data, your livelihood, your future, that choice matters. At this stage, you know credit repair cold. You're an expert at the craft, but now you need to become an expert at business. That means choosing the right tools, the right systems, and the right partners. I'm standing on this stage today because Credit Repair Cloud was that partner.
Woo!
When everything fell apart. When everything fell apart. So lead generation, marketing funnels, conversions, and a platform you can trust. That's why Credit Repair Cloud is your secret weapon. Whatever got you here will crush you at the next level. It doesn't take a 1,500-client crash to do it. Doing everything yourself got you full-time, but I want to get you past $100K. So stage 5, the boss. Now, stage 5 is where most people hit a wall. You're making money, I mean real money, okay? But you know what? You're drowning. You're working overtime, you're working every weekend, every holiday, your phone never stops, your inbox never stops, you never stop. I met some of y'all at dinner last night, I was like, man, they don't stop. But here's the shift, this is the single biggest mind shift in this entire journey. You have to stop doing everything yourself, okay? I'll say it again, you have to stop doing everything, say it with me, yourself. Yourself. Thank you very much, appreciate y'all following along. My wife and I were grinding, we were stretched thin, working overtime, running every part of the business, and then someone handed us a book, E-Myth by Michael Gerber, and it changed our lives. E-Myth argues that most small businesses fail because their owners are technicians who love the work itself, Not entrepreneurs who build businesses around it. They end up owning a job, not a company. Let that set in for a second. EMIS Essentials: document every process, build systems, automate what you can, train assistants to do what only you could do before. It doesn't have to be a big scary hire either. You just start with a small VA, or these days build a GPT or Claude Skills or something, but it Get something off your plate, get one thing off your plate, then another. That's what the boss stage is about. You're finally operating through people and systems instead of just your own effort. You're building something that you can run when, that can run when you step away. And I want you to know something, you don't have to figure this out alone. I got a nice big beautiful team that can help you out do this, okay. I'm the head of customer success. Let us be your resource. Let us be your expert guides. We'll help you build a relationship with us. Take advantage of us. That's what we're here for. Truly, that's what we're here for. So to advance from this stage, master your systems, master your process, become whatever— because of whatever got you here, your hustle, your grind, your doing-it-all mentality. Yes, it will crush you at the next level. I thought someone was gonna jump in and complete it for me, but that's all right. Stage 6, all right, this is big time right now. You're the leader, $300K to $1 million. You have a team now, and there's something painful that has to happen. You have to change. Not your business, not your marketing, not your software, you.
You.
See, up till now, the question has always been, how does my team help me get ahead? But at stage 6, the question flips. How do I help the team get ahead? This is one of the hardest transitions you'll ever make. Trust me. You built this thing from nothing, 150-square-foot office, filing cabinet, big neon sign, dialing for dollars. This is your baby. And now you have to trust other people with it. For my wife and I, this is where we grew our team. This is where we stopped managing tasks, started leading human beings. Where we poured into our people so they could get ahead. And when they got ahead, so did we. That's why we were able to do it back to back. Leverage your team to scale consistent sales and delivery. Become a leader who supports, not a boss who controls. Whatever got you here will crush you at the next level. Managing tasks got you to $300K, but only leading people will get you to $1 million. Stage 7, Empire Builder. Revenue $1 million and beyond.
Yeah.
This is the Millionaires Club. At this stage, you are not running a business day to day anymore. You have layers, leadership, a management team, systems running without you touching them. And here's why that matters. And why you have to step out of the day-to-day? So you can become the face of the company. You cannot be the operator and the visionary at the same time. You cannot be buried in your business and be the face of the business. One of them has to give, and at stage 7, the thing that has to give is your grip on the daily operations. Your job? Be the visionary. Be the face of the brand. Step out of the daily operations into your purpose. Your team should be telling you where you're needed most, not the other way around. My wife and I hit this stage in 2014 and 2015. And you remember Devon said we didn't have awards back then? Well, when I started at CRC, Daniel was like, well, you should have one of those. Finally got it right there.
Nice.
So it's in my backdrop every Zoom call now.
Sorry.
We did it once, not once, but twice. But the thing that got it here, it wasn't working harder, it wasn't a better funnel, it wasn't a hack or a trick or a secret, it was stepping out of the day-to-day. It was becoming the face of the business, not the engine of it. That's Empire Builder, that's the Millionaires Club, and that's available for every single person in this room. That's available for every single person in this room.
Yes.
Okay, okay.
I thought I heard somebody say they wanna be a millionaire, I thought I did. Now, I want to plant a seed before I go any further. On the Millionaire's Map, we have 7 stages, and that's intentional. The Millionaire's Club is an incredible achievement, but, and it's what Credit Repair Cloud is built for, to get you there. But I want you to know the road doesn't end there. That's why we just created our $10 million award.
We did?
And you saw the first recipient just before me, right? Okay, there are many of them. Now, this is not hypothetical. We already have members who've qualified. You've just seen one of them. These are people who started right where you're at, stage 1, dabbler, from $0, getting past the million dollars club and beyond. So, when you look at this map, don't look at stage 7 as the finish line. Think of it as a foundation to what comes next. Alright, now, I wanna do something for you real quick. I just walked through the 7 stages, dabbler to empire builder, millionaires club and beyond. I shared my story. But here's the thing, I don't want you to just hear this, I want you to have it. There we go. Got a QR code right here. So right now, I have everyone pull out their phones, scan this. Go ahead, get your phones out. We've built this. This is going to be the digital form. You do have it like a physical copy in your event guide, but you can get it, download it. This is specifically built for you, for credit repair businesses, right? Especially for you. So follow it. Here's what I want you to do though. Scan it, save it, print it. Everyone got it? Okay, but here's what I want you to do when you get home. I want you to find yourself on the map, find your stage, read the question at the next level, and then look at the next stage, because at the next stage, that's where you're headed. Everything you need to get there— the software, the training, the community, the support— it's all right there at Credit Repair Cloud. Got it? Everybody scan it? Good. All right, now before I close, I want to feel the room. Where are my stage 1s at? My dabblers?
Woo!
My 2s, my apprentice.
Yeah.
OK, my entrepreneurs, my experts, they quit their job, my bosses, my leaders, my empire builders. All right, you're in the right place. Come by the CRC booth today. We want everyone, before you go, we want everyone to get connected. We've got our new Quick Launch program that's gonna include our first ever coaching program. We got early access to that, come by, ask about that. But before, before I want you to take, I want you to take advantage of the next stage. I wanna share this real quick, and I'm out of time, but hopefully they don't shoot me off the stage. I spent all this time in the Air Force driving all this, all these miles, sitting back to back dialing for dollars, hit a million twice, but it wasn't about the money. That's my beautiful family, by the way, a good-looking crew. Okay, one more with my grandson, all right. All right, it wasn't the journey, it was the people. Every single person whose credit we fixed got their car, got their house, got their loan, their life back. Every single day, you're not just running a business, you're changing lives. And if you remember nothing else today, remember this. The journey from right now to the Millionaires Club is not about being the smartest person in the room. It's not about having the most money. It's not about having the perfect plan. It's not— it's about having the courage to keep going when everything tells you to stop.
Amen.
Well, let— you have to let go of what got you here, okay? Trust your systems, trust your team, and trust yourself. That's you. That's every single person in this room. So wherever you are in the millionaire's journey, dabbler or millionaires or beyond, the answer is yes. My name is Troy Hitt, and it's been an honor to be on this stage.
Now go build your empire! Let's go! Your time is up. Whoa! Now, now, you can't see me. My time is now, now. It's the French. Yo, Troy's a man, right? Keep it going for Troy. Give him one more round of applause.
